The Lay Training Officer - The Revd Alison Cox

Alison arrived in the diocese from being a full time parish priest in Derby Diocese to work as the Lay Training Officer.   She has a history of involvement in education, teaching and training all sorts of people of different ages, in many different places, from kindergarten in Finland to retired Anglophiles in Germany.

Within the department Alison is responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of lay training courses - the Diocesan Certificate Course, initial and on-going Reader Training and Ministry, any other lay training programmes and "hands on" delivery of one-off events and long term courses.

Beyond the diocese, there is a wider dimension of collaborating with partner dioceses and churches in the East Midlands ecumenical Regional Training Partnership and liaising with accrediting bodies and national education/training networks.

Education and Training can come acroos as stodgy words - yet they describe the most exciting, fulfilling and exhilirating process - in which anyone can take part.  Becoming a disciple gives us all the priviledge, right and responsibility to take up Jesus' challenge to learn, to grow in faith and knowledge and in the confidence to share the terrific news of God.
