Department for Development

The Department is run by two joint directors - The Director of Ministry and Mission and the Director of Partnerships and Mission who hold the overall vision together for the Depatment.  The functioning of the department is offered below under two headings while recognising that it remains a unified whole, with one admin function.

 

Ministry & Mission

 

The Revd Canon Dr Nigel Rooms - Director of Ministry & Mission

Theological resource interpreting the diocese and its context: discerning God. More Info

 

The Revd Sue Hemsley Halls - Vocations Adviser and Director of Ordinands

Responsible for the development and implementation of vocations policy, support of enquirers, management of selection processes, support during training, liaison with colleges and courses.    More Info

 

The Revd Alison Cox - Lay Training Officer
Responsible for the oversight of the Lay Training Provision within the diocese.  More Info

 

Mrs Dianne Skerritt - Equality and Diversity Officer and Rainbow Project Coordinator.  The Rainbow Project, based at St Stephen’s, Hyson Green, is an inner city parish initiative developing good practice in working in a multi-cultural, multi-faith context.

Mr Tim Friend - Sport Ambassador.
A 27-year-old rugby player and coach with a passion for sharing his faith started work in January as the Church of England’s first Sport AmbassadorTim Friend, who is a History graduate from York University, played as a flanker in the Gloucestershire Premiere League, before moving to Nottingham to take up the new post of Sport Ambassador, with the Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham. Responsible to the Bishop of Southwell and Nottingham for the affirmation, resourcing and encouragement of Sector Clergy in the diocese in their ministry with people in their specialised context.  More Info

Ensuring the diocese works well with other churches, faiths and statutory and voluntary agencies and building credibility.  Represents the diocese in appropriate faith sector, voluntary and statutory sector operational bodies for County and City. More Info

Vacant– Bishop’s Adviser on Rural Affairs

Support for clergy ministering in rural areas through quarterly meetings, advice to the Bishop on issues affecting rural communities, links with the Rural Community Action Nottinghamshire and other countryside organisations. More Info

 

Vacant – World Development Adviser

Working to hold development issues before the Diocese– e.g. Fairtrade, trade justice, conservation, arms trade.  Networking and resourcing parishes. More Info
