The new Bishop of Southwell & Nottingham made a special journey of discovery on Friday 5th March 2010, when he took his own personal ‘pilgrimage’ on the Tram from Hucknall into Nottingham City Centre.

Bishop Paul visited projects, met people and found out about a range of communities along the tram route during his seven hour ‘pilgrimage’.

The day included visits to a weekly market in Hucknall, various community projects including Under One Roof, in Hucknall and the Jericho road Project in Nottingham, Asda supermarket in Hyson Green, Nottingham Boys High School, where he had lunch and a ride on the Nottingham Wheel in the Market Square with the Lord Mayor of Nottingham. Meeting homeless mums before Mothering Sunday

Young mothers who have become homeless shared their stories with the new Bishop of Southwell & Nottingham, when he visited one of the services of local homelessness charity, Framework, on Friday 12th March 2010.

Bishop Paul visited Aidan House in Nottingham – a home for single homeless women aged 16 -19 who are pregnant or with young children, but have no-where to live due to reasons including: a family or relationship breakdown, fleeing domestic violence or racial abuse, poor mental health or problems with drugs or alcohol.

Framework’s Chief Executive, Andrew Redfern, met the new Bishop at the project. He said: “Framework has its origins in Macedon and Nottingham Help the Homeless Association – both had strong links with the churches and were active in the 1970s when Paul Butler was studying at Nottingham University.
