Notts churches celebrate with carol services, Christmas tree festivals and ‘Christingles’
Churches across the county will be helping people get in touch with the real meaning of Christmas again this year with a host of special services, festivals and events. The first part of December offers people a chance to enjoy some of the more unusual fringe events such as Christmas Tree festivals, Christingle services and Christmas fairs. As the month moves on each church will be marking the birth of Christ with carol services and crib services, along with the traditional Christmas Eve and Christmas day celebrations. The Bishop of Southwell & Nottingham, the Rt Revd Paul Butler will be visiting a Christmas tree festival at St Mary’s & All Saints, Bingham, tomorrow, Wednesday 1st December, for the official opening at 7.30pm he said: "I'm looking forward to my first Christmas here in Southwell and very excited about joining in the celebrations. Every one of our churches will be giving an especially warm welcome to visitors over the coming weeks and I hope many more people will be inspired to get back in touch with the real meaning of Christmas, something far deeper and longer lasting than the presents and parties."
