Being a School Governor is a really good way to be involved in & serve your community, whether in a Church or Community School.
Tuesdays from 7.30-9pm · Dunham House, Southwell, NG25 0JL Introduction/Refresher into the Role of a Foundation Governor This is suitable for you, whether you are a new governor, a potential future governor, or just want a reminder what it's all about. Thinking about what it involves, what you can & can't do, and why we do it. · Tuesday Feb 10th · Tuxford school, near Newark, NG22 0JH Foundation Governors : Developing the Christian Ethos of a school A key role for Foundation Governors is keeping the school "Christian". How can we do this? What problems may we encounter? What will most help the process? Come & share your ideas. · Tuesday March 10th · St Marks, Woodthorpe, NG5 4PH Foundation Governors and Church School Inspections What do you know about church school inspections? (SIAS) What role do Foundation Governors play in this process? How can you support your school?. · Tuesday May 12th · Venue to be confirmed Foundation governors: Getting your head around admissions & appeals (For VA schools) Introduction to admissions, writing policy, what needs to be included & what doesn't, avoiding the pitfalls. And if there's an appeal? Explaining the process as it relates to Church Schools. · Tuesday June 9th · St Mary’s Hall, Wollaton Park, NG8 1AF Foundation governors and staff development What can the governors do to support staff? How can we encourage Christian teachers and senior managers to come, & to stay? What do we need to put in place before appointments are made? All the other courses incur an administrative charge of £10, which will include refreshments and course materials. You may pay by cash or cheque (made payable to the Southwell & Nottingham Diocesan Board of Finance) or we can invoice your school. Additional course places booked at the same time will be discounted to £7 per course booking. Special rates available for group bookings of 10 or more.
