Developing Links between Churches and Schools
Maureen Collins (Church & Schools Links Officer - 2.5 days) Maureen's work includes Education within the Church History project, website work and Foundation Governor Training, Affiliation & how churches can better link with all schools. We would welcome your ideas, examples of good practice, requests for training etc. Please get in touch! In our society the local schools is very often more of a centre of the community than the local church. Right or wrong, that is how it is! Schools are where many children and adults from our communities naturally meet - it is an opportunity for the Church to serve & reach out with the love of God - IF we get involved & earn the right to speak of our faith. We are developing a package for churches to think about how they can usefully get involved with their local schools. For details of MITRE, click here. At the Big E training day in September 07, a group came up with an A-Z of ways to get involved: Creative Church School Links. Some were struggling to make the letters fit, but there may be things here that you haven't thought of - something that would be a really helpful way in for YOU in your local school. We also discussed the many useful resources out there already, including Scripture Union, Barnabas & Youth for Christ. |  |
