Former Archdeacon with Nottinghamshire connections is remembered:

This year marks the centenary of the birth of a former Archdeacon of Newark and renowned author with strong local connections. Bishop Frank West was born in 1909 had a brave and distinguished Second World war record as a service chaplain.

Bishop West wrote six books including: Sparrows of the Spirit  (1957), which gave fascinating glimpses of the life and work of country parish priests in Nottinghamshire from 1583 to 1911, along with The Country Parish Today, 1960,  written when he was Archdeacon of Newark (Archdeacon from 1947 to 1962).
