Bishop to join in Deaf Society & Church anniversary service

The Bishop of Southwell & Nottingham, the Rt Revd Paul Butler, will join in double celebrations for 80 years of the Deaf Society and Church in Nottingham and 120 years since the Deaf Society was founded by the Church of England, at a special service this weekend.

The Thanksgiving service at the Deaf Society, 22 Forest Road West, Nottingham, will be on Sunday 30th January starting at 3pm and will include drama, song and talks about the history of the Deaf Society.

Ken Dyson, Evangelist amongst Deaf People for the Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham, said: “Nottingham Deaf Society and Deaf Church support the overall well being and spiritual health of deaf people in Nottinghamshire. At our Thanksgiving service on Sunday, we will  thank God for all the care, support, worship and friendship deaf people have received for so many years from Nottingham Deaf Society.”

Nottingham Deaf Drama Group, ‘Dream’ will take part in the service, which will also include talks about the Deaf club, its history and services and a display of photographs.
The service will be in sign language with a voice over and there will be refreshments after the service.
 
Everyone is welcome to attend, including the Deaf, the hearing and the Hard of Hearing.
