Bishop to visit world-renowned tractor maker Farming and the rural community will be the focus for the new Bishop of Southwell & Nottingham, the Rt Revd Paul Butler, next week when he visits a small farm and spends time at the UK & Ireland HQ for international tractor manufacturer John Deere, near Langar, on Monday, 26th April 2010. First call will be breakfast at a nearby farm where Bishop Paul will have a chance to hear about some of the issues facing small farmers today. The Bishop will then be welcomed by John Deere staff at their Langar HQ, where he will be shown round the offices and training centre, meeting and chatting with staff from all areas of the business. PHOTOCALL: There will be a photocall with the Bishop and members of John Deere’s staff at 11.30am by the large John Deere tractor in front of the HQ. Bishop Paul said: “I was fascinated to discover that John Deere’s HQ is based in the diocese and am looking forward to learning more about the business and what goes on. It will be good to gain an insight into two different aspects of rural life around the county, both at a local farming level and as part of the broader rural economy.” Ends
