Chaplains to take new bishop round hospitals Patients and staff at two Nottinghamshire hospitals will be meeting with the new Bishop of Southwell & Nottingham next week when he spends a day touring healthcare centres and hospitals in the Mansfield and Ashfield areas. The Rt Revd Paul Butler, will be meeting with hospital chaplains to find out more about their work as part of his series of visits ‘out & about’ across the county, which was planned some months ago. The visit on Monday, 4th October will begin with time spent at Mansfield Community Hospital, where the Bishop will visit the Pilgrim Centre and meet with members of the chaplaincy team. Bishop Paul said: “All our chaplains are the very human face of the church out in the communities and institutions they serve. They provide a vital role in hospitals, where they are able to listen and offer support to staff, patients and families. I’m looking forward to hearing their stories and learning more about what they do day to day along with meeting those receiving care and the carers across a range of healthcare centres.” After visiting Mansfield Community Hospital, the Bishop will meet patients and staff at John Eastwood Hospice and join them for an informal service. He will also visit Ashfield Health Village to see the Oasis Centre, before going onto King's Mill Hospital, where he will see the new chaplaincy centre, currently under construction. PHOTO Opportunity: The Bishop of Southwell & Nottingham will be available for a photo with some of the chaplains at King’s Mill Hospital’s new entrance at 2.15pm on Monday 4th October. Ends
