Nottingham vicar nominated for city’s  ‘good neighbour’ award

A clergywoman in Nottingham, the Revd Vivienne Flanagan, has been nominated for Nottingham’s ‘Proud of You’ awards as one of just three people to be nominated as the best ‘good neighbour’ in the city.

Vivienne, who is Priest-in-Charge at St Barnabas Church, Lenton Abbey, was nominated for the award by the local Neighbourhood Co-ordinator, Madge Saunders. She said: “Vivienne is a great community champion. She has been working closely with local residents since 2003 and has been central to a number of activities that have taken off in Lenton Abbey. She has acted as the voice of the local community, where she is well know as she continues to contribute her time and energy to the needs of the local people. She is a local resident herself who walks her dog in the park and keeps her eyes and ears open to the on-going needs of the local community. Her role as a local clergyperson of the church has enabled her to establish relationships and develop trust.”

Vivienne, along with two other nominees, will attend the special ‘Proud of You’ ceremony at Nottingham Council House on  Monday, 26th March, when the winner of the public vote will be announced.

Nottingham City Council, with One Nottingham and 96 Trent FM, is running the awards with the aim of offering Nottingham residents the chance to give an individual or a group the recognition they deserve. The categories for the awards include ‘Good Neighbour’, ‘Green Champion’ and ‘Young Achiever’.
