Churches across Notts celebrate older people with three events

Three special services this week will all celebrate the lives of older people – as part of the International Day of Older Persons.

The services all on Friday, 1st October 2010, in Newark, Langar, near Nottingham and Gedling in Nottingham, will include guest speakers, visiting musicians and choirs and will all be followed by refreshments. At St Andrew's Church, Langar, there will also be a display of crafts and hobbies older people are engaged in.

Director of Partnerships and Mission for the Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham, the Revd David McCoulough, said: “These services build on the event we held last year in Southwell Minster and give people an opportunity to get together and celebrate the lives of older people in our communities. We hope young and old will come together and enjoy giving thanks to God for the older generation."
