A special service of celebration will mark a new partnership between the church and Tuxford School next week on Friday, 7th November at 11am. The school will be the first in the county to be made an Affiliated School in the Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham . Church & Schools Link Officer for the diocese, Maureen Collins said: “We hope Tuxford will be the first of many schools to become affiliated with the Church of England. This is a three way link between the diocese, the local parish church and the school. It will celebrate and strengthen existing positive links with the church, although it won’t change the school’s legal status.” The Archdeacon of Newark, the Ven Nigel Peyton and the Director of Education, the Revd Dr Howard Worsley will join in the service, along with the Priest-in-Charge of St Nicholas, Tuxford, the Revd Colin Wall. The Affiliation document will be signed during the service and the school will also be presented with a Bible. The former vicar of Tuxford, Liz Thomas had built up an excellent relationship with the school over the years, taking assemblies, helping with RE and PSHE lessons and celebrating Christian festivals. The new priest, Colin, with continue and build on this special link as part of his parish work.
