Young people to give their views on new bishop

Young people from across the county will be asked to say what they would like in a new Bishop for the Church of England across Nottinghamshire at a special youth event at Southwell Minster this weekend.

The youth event on Saturday 8th November 2008, called ‘One Body’, is part of the 900 celebrations at the Cathedral and will run from 4pm – 8.30pm, with music, worship, workshops and stalls set up around the Minster.

Youth Ministry Adviser for the Diocese, Angela Heywood said: “We hope as many young people as possible will come along and join in. We will have a live band, refreshments, and lots to do and look at, with space just to chill-out aswell. Everyone will also have the chance to say what they would like in a new bishop and this will be passed through to the committee who will draw up the person specification for the next Bishop of Southwell & Nottingham.”

Young people attending the event will also be shown the new youth website officially launched that day which aims to allow young people from churches and communities across the diocese to have their say. The new site at: www.j4-42.com  offers pages on sharing faith, forthcoming events, views and opinions as well as a spirituality section.
